ONTARIO'S CENTENNIAL PUBLIC LIBRARIES, 1967

Now for the latest presentation at OLA SuperConference on February 1st -- a PDF version of my talk to an avid group of library history people who got to discuss Canada's centennial year and some of the libraries that were built at that time so long ago -- 40 years! The session included Elizabeth Hanson's study on Mabel Dunham, Kitchener's noted chief librarian for many years. Thanks to Ex Libris Association for thinking about this session and sponsoring it.

Many of us have passed these smaller libraries on roadways or city streets without recognizing that during Canada's centennial about 75 public library buildings were built or renovated -- the second largest building boom in Ontario library history.
